CHERTO Strep A Test is a test designed to detect Group A streptococcus using a throat swab sample. It is intended for home use and helps determine whether symptoms are related to a streptococcal infection from the very beginning.

Early identification is important because an untreated streptococcal infection can lead to serious complications such as rheumatic fever and kidney involvement. At the same time, symptoms often resemble a common viral sore throat, which increases the risk of the infection being underestimated. The test provides timely clarity and supports the right response when it matters.

What’s included in the kit

Each CHERTO Strep A Test kit contains everything needed to perform the test at home:

  • Individually sealed pouch, containing:
    – test
    – desiccant pouch
  • Extraction tube
  • Sterile throat swab for sample collection
(The swab is for single use only. Re-sterilization under home conditions is not recommended).
  • Buffers A and B
(Warning: Buffer B is toxic if swallowed).
  • Instructions for Use leaflet

How to use

Before starting, make sure the test and buffers are at room temperature (between 10°C and 30°C).

Step 1

Add 4 drops of Buffer A and 4 drops of Buffer B into the extraction tube. Mix well. The liquid should turn yellow.

Step 2

Insert the swab with the collected sample into the tube. Swirl it about 10 times and leave it in the tube for 1 minute.

Step 3

Remove the swab while pressing it against the inside of the tube to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the swab.

Step 4

Close the tube and gently mix the contents. The sample should be used immediately.

Step 5

Remove the test from the pouch and place it on a clean, dry, flat surface. Add 3 drops of the prepared sample into the sample well (marked with an arrow) by inverting and gently squeezing the tube.

Step 6

Wait 10 minutes and check the result. Do not read the result after 15 minutes.

Results
Positive result on Cherto home strep A test - two lines in test area T and control area C
Positive result (+)

Two colored lines appear: one in the test area (T) and one in the control area (C).

This indicates that you may be in a stage of streptococcal infection and it is recommended to consult a doctor.

Negative result on Cherto strep A test - one line in control area C only
Negative result (-)

Only one colored line appears in the control area (C).

This means the level of streptococcal antigen is below the detection limit of the test.

Invalid result on Cherto home strep A test - no control line or line only in test area, repeat required
Invalid result

No lines appear, or a line appears only in the test area but not in the control area.
This means the test was not performed correctly or the reagents may be compromised.

Use a new test and repeat the procedure. If the issue persists, contact the retailer where the product was purchased and provide the lot number.
